I warmly welcome you to the website of the Consulate General of Hungary in Montreal.

In accordance with a decision of the Hungarian Government, since 2021 Hungary has once again established an independent diplomatic mission serving as the consular office for the entire province of Quebec. This direct presence enables for the strengthening of bilateral economic, trade, scientific, cultural and tourism relations. The Consulate General aims to provide support to businesses, arts and academic stakeholders by facilitating access to their partners and exploring opportunities.

It is particularly important to us to bring consular services closer to the Hungarian diaspora living in the province. This community has a historical significance, as for the majority of Hungarians arriving in Canada in the early twentieth century, Quebec was their first destination. Through their solidarity and united efforts, they have established values and traditions that continue to serve as exemplary in our days.

We strive to reinforce cooperation in numerous fields, not forgetting the language, as Quebec is an especially active member of the International Organisation of La Francophonie, in which Hungary holds observer status. The institutional presence opens up new connections for the Hungarian Francophone community to discover, nurture, and enrich intellectual and cultural values.
